Dora María West López (Guayaquil, 19 October 1983), is an Ecuadorian singer, actress and television presenter, known for being part of the female musical group Kandela & Son. She is currently a prominent presenter of two open-signal TV programmes En Contacto and Los hackers de la farándula, both broadcast on Ecuador’s most important TV channel ecuavisa. She studied dressmaking at SECAP, and was a waitress at the ‘Karaoque Nace Una Estrella’ in the city of Ibarra.
As a singer
In 2000 she joined the group Kandela & Son, being part of the second and third generation, sharing with Jordana Doylet, María Fernanda Ríos and Jasú Montero, and as representative Loly Ochoa, in 2010 they had their own reality show for Gamatv, called En busca de la quinta Kandela and the following year on Canal Uno the program Kandela pura.
After their separation from the group Kandela & Son, they became part of the group Las Tr3s, along with Jordana Doylet and Jasú Montero, with Andrea Pesantez as their manager, until their separation in 2017.
TV Programmes
In 2010 the Kandela & Son had their own reality show for Gamatv, called En busca de la quinta Kandela and the following year on Canal Uno the Kandela pura. show.
In 2013 she worked as a showbiz presenter in the programme Jarabe de pico on Teleamazonas, where she shared the set with Nicolás Espinoza, Emerson Morocho as Miss Laura, Marián Sabaté, Paola Farías, among other showbiz personalities.
In 2021 she joined the team of hosts of Ecuavisa’s En contacto, sharing the screen with Alejandra Jaramillo, Efraín Ruales, Gabriela Díaz, Henry Bustamante and José Urrutia.
In 2022 she becomes the main presenter of the first season of the programme ‘Los hackers de la farandula’, a new show that Ecuavisa channel is betting on. In January of 2023 they announce the second season of the show, ratifying her participation in the show. Becoming presenter of two programs within the same television station.
As an Actress
In 2008 she made a stellar participation in the soap opera El secreto de Toño Palomino of Ecuavisa where she played Pamela and shared credits with Martín Calle and Carolina Jaume.
In 2010 she starred in the soap opera Kandela of TC Televisión with the members of the group Kandela & Son where she paired with Venezuelan actor Yul Bürkle.
After her exit from Jarabe de pico she returned to acting starring in the telenovela Calle amores where she paired with actor Christian Maquilón and shared credits with Carolina Jaume, Francisco Pinoargotti and Sofía Caiche.
In 2020 she plays for the first time in her career a villain in the telenovela Antuca me enamora.
Personal Life
In 2012 she married Brazilian dancer and actor Danilo Vitanis, with whom she has a son named after his father.
